How can I tell if my stainless is magnetic or non-magnetic?
A quick magnet test helps: 300-series stainless like 304 and 316 is usually non-magnetic and higher in value, while 400-series tends to stick to a magnet. If you are not sure, bring it in and we will test and grade it for you.
Is 304 or 316 stainless worth more?
Both are strong, non-magnetic grades. 316 adds molybdenum for extra corrosion resistance and often prices slightly higher, but we grade each piece against the current market so you are paid for what you actually have.
Do you buy nickel alloys like Monel, Inconel, and Hastelloy?
Yes, and these high-nickel alloys are some of the most valuable metals we take. Keep them separated if you can, since mixing them with plain stainless can pull down the payout on the whole load.
Do sinks or equipment still count if they have other metals attached?
They do. Restaurant sinks, tanks, and machinery often come with steel, plastic, or fasteners attached. We grade mixed pieces fairly, though clean, sorted stainless always brings the best price.
Should I sort my stainless before bringing it in?
Sorting by grade helps, especially keeping nickel alloys and 300-series apart from 400-series. If you cannot tell them apart, bring it as-is and we will sort it with you at the scale.
How do you price stainless steel?
Stainless is valued on its nickel and chromium content, so grade matters even more than weight. We test each piece, price it against the live alloy market, and pay you in cash on the spot.
